Go Back To Africa

"Go back to Africa." A few weeks ago, someone interrupted me as I was minding my own business to tell me this in anger. "Thank you", was my reply 😉, as I went right back to minding my own business. I know they probably think it's an insult. But next time someone says that to you, I hope you do. As we plan our trip, I can’t help from wonder how far this is from the way I was brought up. I saw a meme on Facebook a few months ago that described the typical careers...

Black Women's Equal Pay Day with Lean In

As a business that supports equality, we are partnering with LeanIn.Org (a nonprofit organization founded by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg) to highlight the unfairness of the gender pay gap on Black women's Equal Pay Day. Women on average are paid 20% less than men.  If you break the pay gap down by race and ethnicity, it is worse: Black women are paid 37% less and Hispanic women are paid 46% less.  In fact, over the course of her career, a Black woman will typically lose nearly $880,000 (Source: National Women's Law Center NWLC, August 2016). Businesses like ours are offering 37% discounts on our Queening Collection to all customers on Black women's Equal Pay Day, July 31st, to highlight the inherent unfairness...
